Very well maintained and used Land Rover with a good history of running maintenance. Colourful recent history including magazine coverage, wedding duties for one of our Olympians and attendance at Goodwood Revival just prior to lockdown.
Some history available having originally believed to have been stationed at RAF West Raynham, Norfolk, and released for disposal (from the RAF) on 12th July 1960. RAF registration and stores number recorded but original road vehicle registration details lost in a fire so she currently has a non-age related registration. Since release she has spent various periods off road in storage which probably accounts for her current original and unmolested condition.
Recent maintenance includes refurbished axles (new bearings, seals & swivels), brakes (new wheel cylinders, refurbished reservoir, serviced handbrake), exhaust, fuel tank, electronic points, electric fuel pump, radiator cowling, steering serviced, replacement exhaust and heat guards, re-upholstered front seats with new foam, new rear seating, valve clearances adjusted and new oil to axles, engine, gearboxes and steering boxes.
Currently fitted with solid black steel wheels and traction tyres but happy to fit original split steel wheels, see blue wheels in photos.
I’ve had great fun running around in the summer months, ‘Bluey’ is very much a Land Rover that wants to be used and showed off. Not a show car at all, but full of character and peppiness. My long term plans were to strip down and re-build to show standard, which would be a very easy and straightforward project, however my circumstances have changed and its time to pass stewardship on to someone new.
