1952 Land Rover Series 1 80’’ Ken Wheelwright restoration. Series 1 80″ 1952 in Bronze Green with Green Interior. It has been professionally restored to an exemplary standard by Ken Wheelwright. One man who has come to be known as the worlds leading authority on early Land Rovers, and indeed the go-to restorer for leading collectors and Land Rover themselves, is Ken Wheelwright. Working from his Yorkshire farm, Ken’s restorations include three early pre-production prototype Land Rovers, two Tickford Station Wagons, the first Automobile Association restored 80 inch now on display at the Coventry Motor Museum and a Tickford Land Rover for the British Heritage Motor Museum. Four other vehicles are in a German museum collection (one of which was this Land Rover we now have advertised) , along with an exact replica of a Land Rover factory Transporter which took two years to build from archive pictures only. The most notable of Ken’s achievements came when he was chosen as one of Jaguar Land Rover’s preferred restorers, having supplied them with two Series I Land Rovers in dark bronze green that have featured on television programmes worldwide.
This 1952 Land Rover was purchased by Ken in 2006 and restored to his usual very high standard, from here the Land Rover was in a museum in Germany as noted above before coming back to the UK to be used.
This Land Rover is an outstanding example and standing the test of time with the restoration as you would expect with the restorer being Ken.
This Land Rover has 1,997 CC OHV Inline 4-Cylinder Engine, a single Solex Carburettor, 4-Speed Manual Gearbox with Selectable 4-Wheel Drive, 4-Wheel Hydraulic Drum Brakes, Front Solid Axle with Semi-Elliptical Leaf Springs, Rear Live Axle with Semi-Elliptical Leaf Springs. As expected this Land Rover drove very well with a strong engine and smooth gearbox, this is a very usable example complete with two-litre power.
Do not miss the chance to own a Land Rover restored by the legend Ken Wheelwright.
