Motodrome offer this 1963 example of the ever-popular Land Rover Series IIa, this one a 2.25 petrol narrow-headlight model 88in soft top, in 6-seater specification. Known as ‘Myrtle’.
Believed to be an ex-military white fleet (or possibly civil defence) vehicle, and comes with the transferable EWE numberplate as shown. Very nice if you’re into sheep…
Firstly, if you like your Series models to be in completely original spec, this one probably isn’t for you, as the wheels, mirrors, door hinges and wiper arrangement are either aftermarket or from later cars.
Fitted with: Overdrive, matching set of Toyo Open Country tyres on black modular rims, and towpack, Inside, it has a pair of deluxe seats in the front, heater, and twin 2-man bench seats in the load area.
It’s fitted with a period-correct 251-prefix military-spec 2.25 petrol engine, and retains it’s original 1963 features including gearbox, razor edge bonnet, sprung steering wheel, short handbrake, and deep sill covers.
Odometer reading 84000 miles, but we think this is incorrect and that it may have been fitted with a secondhand replacement speedo.
V5 only shows 2 previous keepers, and the last lady owner has had it since 2015
It’s ULEZ, road tax and MOT exempt – what’s not to like?
On our own website, you’ll find our usual 2 videos: a walkaround appraisal, and driving impressions, which form part of the description.
Viewing by prior appointment.
