Motodrome offer for sale this 1963 example of the ever-popular Land Rover Series IIa, this one an ex-military 88in petrol model
This one?s official designation was Truck, GS FFR ¼ ton 4×4 Rover 8, and the military number for this one was 83 EL 73,
When it left the military it was registered as a 1972 vehicle as was the practice at the time, although we think, from it?s chassis number and features, that it was manufactured in 1963.
Spec-wise it seems to retain most of it?s early and military features (with the exception of the radio gear) including oil cooler, twin fuel tanks, bonnet mounted spare wheel, and rear bumperettes. Also fitted with a matching set of 4 750×16 tyres, towbar, and inertia reel seat belts
Odometer reading a shade under 70000 miles, and it?s fitted with a 2.25 military recon motor.
It?s ULEZ, RFL and MOT exempt.
Supplied by us to the last owner in 2021, he?s kept it garaged and looked after it well, but has now moved on to other things, so we were happy to have it back into stock.
Please note it?s just arrived back with us and, as the weather is so bad, we?ve been unable to photograph and video it to do it justice. Therefore the current pictures and videos are from when we last sold it in 2021. Little appears to have changed in the interim, except the number plates have been replaced with period black and silver ones. The listing will be updated with new pictures and videos when the weather improves!
On our own website, you?ll find our usual 2 videos: a walkaround appraisal, and driving impressions.
